I am a Psychiatric Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the mental health and developmental sectors. I have consistently delivered results throughout my career while upholding the highest ethical values and governance standards. My journey began at the grassroots level, where I developed expertise in mental health services for individuals facing mental health challenges and their families.
I have extensive experience in the field of substance use, including the organization and facilitation of awareness programs for various groups. National and international non-governmental organizations have invited me to lead life skills workshops and train counseling professionals. Additionally, I played a key role in developing and implementing two large-scale mental health promotion programs in Karnataka.
My contributions extend to academia, with 25 peer-reviewed articles published in national and international journals, and authorship of 15 books/chapters. I have presented papers at 6 national and 1 international conferences.
I earned my PhD in psychiatric social work from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru, and an MPhil in psychiatric social work from the same institute. My MPhil thesis focused on ‘Understanding psychosocial needs and disability benefits availed by people with severe mental illness.’ For my PhD, I conducted research on ‘Assessment of home environment, psychological health, and psychosocial competencies of adolescent children of parents with alcohol dependence syndrome.’
